Most Ultra Electronics, NSPI temperature measurement products can be supplied with "plug and play" technology, providing compatibility with the new IEEE 1451.4 standard. As a result they are recognizable to standard based instrumentation and software. This means our sensors are instantly identified and automatically begin functioning in seconds.
In addition, everything you need to know about your sensors is immediately accessible...settings, calibration history, even location. So now you can be confident that the sensor's critical data is accurate. It can even store its own calibration certificate!
TEDS
The heart of the IEEE 1451.4 standard is the definition of the Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS), the information structure that contains the critical sensor information to enable plug-and-play operation. The benefits of TEDS include:
- Faster set up time
- Increased reliability
- Improved accuracy
- Open standard interoperability
Smart TEDS Sensors
- TEDS is stored on an EEPROM embedded in the sensor or connector
- Enables plug-and-play automated sensor set-up
Virtual TEDS Sensors
Virtual TEDS extends the benefits of IEEE 1451.4 to traditional analog sensors by storing sensor TEDS information in a database file instead of on an embedded memory chip. You can then access Virtual TEDS files stored on a single centralized database on the Web for literally millions of sensors from multiple vendors, including Ultra Electronics, NSPI.
- TEDS is stored in a database
- Compatible with analog sensors and data acquisition hardware
Software
The NI-DAQmx software from National Instruments provides the interface to read TEDS data from your Ultra Electronics, NSPI temperature sensor and automatically scale the data into engineering units, eliminating the manual entry of sensor parameters from paper data sheets. Please visit www.ni.com/pnp for additional information on NI-DAQmx and its supporting hardware.
